      5. Cowboys, Pitfalls and Compromising on Quality

It seemed like such a good deal – a resin bound driveway, in double-quick time, at a fraction of the cost of your other quotes. A brand new driveway in less than a day – job done.

Too good to be true? You betcha!
Poor preparation and workmanship can result in a sub-standard resin surface, which is likely to deteriorate at an alarmingly quick rate.
In this article, we take a look at some of the key danger signs to look out for when selecting a company to install your new resin bound driveway.

      Find a Reputable Installer

Resin is a specialist product, which requires a methodical approach and installation by experts to achieve a quality, long-lasting end result – take a look at how we work for a comprehensive insight into the processes involved in the correct installation of resin bound driveways and patios..

Prior to going ahead with a resin bound driveway, it pays to spend some time searching for a reputable installer, with relevant accreditations, extensive previous experience, and client testimonials to back it up. Ask for evidence of these before going ahead with an installer – a reputable company will be more than happy to help.

Naturally, we’re a little biased, but Yorkshire Resin Company fits the bill on each of the above points! Check out our credentials here.

      Have they prepared the surface?

A simple hose down and a sweep won’t suffice for a quality, long-lasting finish. Resin is a porous surface and, when laid over an insubstantial sub-base, it can deteriorate rapidly.

A solid sub-base must be in place to act as a foundation for the resin – resin should never be laid directly onto hardcore (or mud, as was the case with this horror story!). Concrete or tarmac can be used, though block paving is not a viable option. If, however, there is movement in the concrete or tarmac, or it is displaying signs of wear, it could cause the resin to crack.

Yorkshire Resin Company offers a free site survey, and a dedicated preparation and maintenance team who can clean the surface with 2 x 250 bar pressure flat surface cleaners, and identify any weak areas which may require remedial work.

Do they offer excellent after service?

Your new driveway has been installed, the installation team has left the site, and you’re delighted with the result. What next, then?

Stay vigilant, folks – be wary of companies that don’t offer a Guarantee, or any form of maintenance service – both of these are prerequisites of a legitimate company that takes pride in the quality of its work.

Yorkshire Resin Company offers comprehensive maintenance services, and we are so confident in the quality of our service that we offer a 10 year Guarantee on installations.

You can read more about the horror stories we’ve encountered here – it pays to find a reputable company, with relevant qualifications, experience and expertise to install your new resin bound driveway.
