      5. How to maintain your composite decking

We’ve found that many of our customers that have chosen a resin patio area have complemented this with composite decking, the ideal space to enjoy your garden from. Composite decking is an extremely popular product and like resin a couple of the main reasons behind this is its durability and the fact its low maintenance. Unlike real wood it won’t need regular treatment, paint or stain applied.

Low maintenance doesn’t mean no maintenance!

A product that offers the appearance of real wood, made up from different materials it’s often stronger and comes in multiple finishes, again just like resin.

Our top tips for maintaining your decking

There are some day to day cleaning tips that will help prolong the upkeep of your composite decking, these will include sweeping away debris such as leaves and other unwanted dirt, this can be done weekly.

You’ll have noticed for yourself that composite decking is highly resistant to the weather and this shouldn’t cause you any problems. Every 6 months just use a soft brush and hot soapy water to remove any unwanted growth that could have found itself on the surface.

Don’t worry if this has been neglected for a longer period, you may need to use a high pressure power wash, this is something our sister company can offer you, you can visit them here www.powercleanuk.com.

      • Stain and spot treatment

Composite decking is fantastic for resisting stains, even some of the hardier stains and quickly and easily removed without too much fuss. Simply just use a wet cloth.

      • Mildew and mould

Composite decking will stain and will become hard to remove if mildew and mould are left untreated simply remove once this starts to appear on the surface.

Our top tip is not to use any chemicals on composite decking this has on past proven to mark and stain the surface and will leave a permanent stain.
