A family run resin driveway company was recently in court after “misleading” homeowners over driveway work. Following an investigation by Durham County Council’s trading standards found AD & Sons Home Improvement LTD prosecuted for three offences.

AD & Sons Improvement first visited the property to power clean the driveway but was left some marketing material with regards installing a new resin driveway, the marketing led to believe they had the experience and knowledge to excavate and install the driveway.

Because of this the resident went ahead with having a new resin driveway installed by AD & Sons Home Improvement and were quoted £5,000. This would cover the front and rear of the property.

Once the payment had been agreed, the front of the house was completed but the customer was advised it would cost a further £4,400 to complete rear, something that wasn’t right, but the customer felt this was something that needed to be completed.

Trading charges found a significant over charging of the resin driveway and patio area, they also found that the work was not fit for purpose as the resin had started to crumble.
