      5. Our guide to buying artificial grass

Artificial grass is a very low maintenance alternative to having a natural lawn, it allows you to have a practical lawn through the seasons. This grass doesn’t need mowing, watering or feeding, you can just relax and enjoy from the start.

When choosing your artificial grass you can make sure you select one that not only looks like a lawn but has the touch and feel of one too. It’s important to go with one that is durable and allows water to drain away as we know what a Yorkshire summer can be like.

      So, why choose Artificial grass?

We all dream of having the perfect lawn, it can take time to perfect and even then it won’t be all year round. Having a natural lawn does involve hard work and upkeep. Then there is the dreaded weed problem to contend with.

Artificial grass should be low maintenance, hard wearing, long lasting, easy to clean and easy to lay on most surfaces including hard surfaces such as concrete. Depending on what your requirements are, artificial grass can come in a range of budgets.

What to consider are the following:

The thickness of the grass is what constitutes the quality of the grass. The density of the grass, in this case the number of yarns per square inch.

Yarns per square inch is the same as a carpet, the number of blades of grass you will find, yarns will be woven into a strong base layer making it hard wearing. The more yarns per square inch the thicker the grass.

Pile high is the term used to measure the height of the grass or yarn, a short grass looks like a well maintained lawn, and is very soft to walk on, the downside is it looks less real. Mid height will look more realistic and is deeper on the foot, and the longer option is the most realistic looking option and extremely soft on your foot.
